The 2019 Israel Ride - #14!
I am excited to participate in my 14th Israel Ride, from Jerusalem to Eilat. I am cycling for peace, and in support of the environmental leadership and peace building work of the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. While ‘peace’ may seem an elusive goal, each passing year leaves me more convinced of the importance of the Institute’s efforts to bring together Jews, Christians, and Muslims to learn about the environment, build bridges of trust, and work together for a better future. In a world where respectful dialogue and cooperation often seems like a lost art, the students at the Arava Institute are an inspiration.
I ride the Israel Ride as part of Team JNF, representing Jewish National Fund. I will join with about 160 riders to ride the 250+ mile journey from Jerusalem to Eilat. In appreciation of my donors, I will plant a tree, in a JNF forest in Israel, in honor of each donor. I am proud to have planted over 500 trees in honor of donors over the past several years. With your support I hope to add at least 120 more in 2019.
I am riding the 2019 Israel Ride in memory of my mother, Lori Heyman Gordon, z”l. My Mom was always the proudest and most generous supporter of my participation in the Israel Ride and my engagement with Israel. She taught me the importance of community engagement and philanthropy at an early age and provided a lifelong model of its importance.
Your donation supports the important work of the Arava Institute. Thanks to the generosity of friends and family, I raised over $10,000 in 2018. Please help me reach an even higher level this year -- supporting peace, coexistence and environmental leadership has never been more urgent. In addition to planting a tree in each donor’s name in a Jewish National Fund (JNF) forest in Israel, I will also include your name on an Israeli flag that will be with me every inch of the ride. As a donor to the Israel Ride, you are truly the wind at my back!
Your contribution has an important impact on the work of the Institute and is greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your support!
