I am pleased to announce that I am riding in the 2019 Israel Ride.Being an educator and participating in the 2019 Israel ride will benefit the ECC and JCC community by incorporating 5 core elements to advocate for social change.
1. Children as Constructive Learners: Doing the Israel ride would allow me and the entire staff to encourage the families and the children to appreciate and question a different perspective. Through face timing with class's, answering questions and sharing video's children can “construct” new knowledge. 2.Early Childhood Educators as Professionals:I see myself as a life long learner, and wanting to engage in new learning opportunities that will enhance children, families and staff. The Israel ride will afford me this opportunity.3. Families as Engaged Partners:Sharing my experience with families will continue to build a strong school community. I would be able to provide opportunities to celebrate Jewish life while on the ride.4. Environments as Inspiration for Inquiry:While on the ride I would send pictures back to class's that could be incorporated in the various areas of the room and this could spark wonder, curiosity and creativity.5. Israel as a Source and Resource:My involvement would help the entire ECC, it would allow everyone to engage and explore in real time, along with me the history ,the ideas and the relationship of the Jewish beliefs. Participating in this ride will demonstrate that what we do matters.
In November 2019, I am participating in a 150-350 mile bike ride throughout Israel on The Israel Ride. I am looking forward to the challenge and thrilled to raise money for two important organizations, the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and Hazon, both promoting environmental protection in Israel and the US. I have committed to raise at least $3600 towards this cause. Would you consider making a donation at whatever level you are able? All contributions are greatly appreciated.
To learn more about the work of the Arava Institute or about the environmental movement in Israel, check out http://www.arava.org. You can also learn more about Hazon at www.hazon.org.
With your generosity and my pedaling, we can support Israel at this important time. You can donate by credit card by visiting my rider page or send me a check made out to "Friends of the Arava Institute."
I will keep you posted on my training along the way and I am planning on sending regular e-mails from the road during the trip.
Thank you in advance for your support.
