As some of you may know, I have been an avid bicycle rider for all of my life. In recent years I have done many long distance rides, and frequently have enjoyed the Katy Trail State Park in Missouri! I have also done several other fundraising rides to benefit the American Diabetes Association (Tour de Cure), and other charity rides.
The Israel Ride has been a dream of mine for several years. However, due to various health issues, and encroaching age, I thought that it was outside of my capabilities. That being said, I have been assured by other previous riders, whom I have been in contact with, that there are people even older than myself who have successfully participated in this event.
We will be riding from Jerusalem to Eilat, between 150 and 350 miles (I will be participating on the LOWER-end of these miles), exploring Israel and learning about the work of two great organizations --- the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and Hazon. These organizations are the beneficiaries of the Ride.
I have committed to raise at least $3,800 towards this cause, and your contribution would be greatly appreciated. As some of you may know the number "18" in Judaism is symbolic for LIFE. If you want to make a contribution on my behalf, it would be wonderful if you could make contributions in increments of 18 --- for LIFE (l'chaim)!
L'chaim, and thanks for your support!
P.S.....If you'd rather contribute by check, please make your check out to: Friends of the Arava Institute, and mail it to me at: 1105 NW 91st Terrace, Kansas City, MO 64155. After I receive it, I'll forward it to where it needs to go. Thanks!
