5 Days. 350 Miles. Israel on a Bike.
In October 2018, I will be riding ~350 miles on my bike from Jerusalem to Eilat with my father-in-law, Danny Kamlet raising money to support the work of two great & worthy organizations, the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies and Hazon.
Danny and I have traveled together on motorcycles all around the Rocky Mountains and through Alaska. We were ready for a new challenge and wanted to make it meaningful. This will be our first fundraiser together by bicycle and we are excited to contribute positively to the country where I was born. I look forward to sharing the experience with him: it will be his first trip to Israel in 45 years. I'm determined to meet the physical challenge and am excited by the mission of this trip to support environmental protection in Israel and the US through these worthy organizations.
Here is how you can help:
As a participant in the ride, I am committed to raise at least $3800. I am requesting your support with a donation toward my ride. I will cover all my travel expenses. Any amount would be wonderful to receive. I hope you will consider giving a gift in any donation you are comfortable with. I intend to reach and hopefully surpass my goal.
The primary beneficiary of the Israel Ride is the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. The Institute is working to confront the serious environmental challenges in Israel, by creating a leadership network of environmentalists through important research, and through public involvement. The Arava Institute draws students from across the Middle East, encouraging environmental cooperation between peoples, and working towards peace and sustainable development on a regional and global scale. To learn more about the work of the Arava Institute, or about the environmental movement in Israel, check out http://www.arava.org.
The second beneficiary of the Israel Ride is Hazon, one of most innovative organizations in the American Jewish community and now the largest Jewish environmental organization in the United States. The word “Hazon” means vision. They create healthier and more sustainable communities in the Jewish world and beyond. Through bike rides, food conferences, and other Jewish sustainability programs, Hazon brings people together, builds community, and promotes sustainability and vibrant Jewish life. You can learn more at www.hazon.org.
