As you may know, I serve as New England Chairman and a National Board Member of the Jewish National Fund. The JNF is a top rated international charity that endeavors to enhance the infrastructure and environment of the State of Israel. It is a non-political and non-religious organization dedicated to peace in the Middle East.
Against my better judgment, I have agreed to participate this October in a 200 mile bike ride across Israel to raise money for a partner organization of the JNF, the Arava Institute for Environmental Studies. The Arava Institute is a world-class teaching and research center that prepares Israelis, Jordanians and Palestinians to address cooperatively the shared environmental challenges facing the Middle East.
My wife, Suzanne (under minor duress) has agreed also to participate in the ride. Given that she has not been on a bike in thirty years, this is a somewhat ambitious project for her.
The Israel Ride is a wonderful event. I participated six years ago and had an amazing experience. If you would like to obtain more information about the bike ride, please go to its website at IsraelRide.org or google “JNF Israel Bike Ride”.
I would be grateful if you would be willing to support our fundraising efforts. Your contributions will help make for a better, brighter future for Israel and the Middle East.
In any event, wish us luck!
