Here we go again!
We will be participating for the second time as a father-son team in the Arava Institute Bike Ride, riding together from Jerusalem to Eilat, along with hundreds of other riders, to raise money for a cause that we both beleive in with our whole hearts!Last time (2015), with your help, we were able to raise over $10,000.This year we have set a loftier goal of $12,000.
Andrew learned about the Arava Institute when he rode in the first Arava Bike Ride from Jerusalem to Eilat 16 years ago. The Arava Institute started simply as a center for environmental studies, but it quickly became clear that to do any effective environmental cleanup or protection, neighbors had to work together. It does little good to stop polluting the river if the village upstream (which may be across the border) doesn’t do the same.
Adopting the motto “nature knows no borders”, the Arava Institute soon became immersed in building relationships between different peoples in the region – Israelis, Jordanians and Palestinians as well as Jews, Christians and Muslims. Over the last 10 years, the Arava Institute has quietly built a diverse network of alums who work together in tackling water quality, clean air, sustainable growth and other environmental issues in the Middle East and beyond.
It’s amazing that one organization can do it all: build a stronger Israel, a cleaner Israel and an Israel at peace with her neighbors while also making improvements for all the residents of the region.
My father and I don't always agree on politics, but we both whole-heartedly beleive that your contribution will help both in protecting our environment and in building bridges for peace in the Middle East. We cannot raise this large sum without your help, so please make a generous contribution. Every pledge helps no matter how large or small!
