As a means of marking my 54th birthday, and in lieu of a party or presents, I’ve once again chosen to participate in the Israel Ride, a 360-mile charitable bicycle ride. As a charitable endeavor, proceeds raised by the participating cyclists go to support the ride sponsors, the Arava Institute of Environmental Studies in Israel, and Hazon here in the United States. Both are organizations with environmentalism and sustainability as a core part of their respective missions.
October 2018 will be my third time cycling in the Israel Ride and I’d be grateful for your help. For my part, I’ve committed to raising $10,000 for these two organizations and, at this stage in my fundraising, I haven't yet met my goal. In addition to my own charitable contribution in support of the ride, I am also underwriting my travel and hotel expenses, and all my incidentals, for what will amount to ten days in Israel and more than $5,000. I hope you’ll consider helping me mark my birthday by supporting me in this endeavor. Thank you in advance for your consideration. (And if you prefer to send a check, make it payable to "Friends of the Arava Institute" and mail it to me at 9 Arthur Drive, East Rockaway, NY 11518. I'll make certain it's properly credited.)
