We are THRILLED to be training for the 2018 Israel Ride!
The Israel Ride is an event that maintains hope for coexistence and peace. Brenda and I are optimistic that you will support our fundraising campaign. Your generous donation will help propel us (on our tandem bicycle) on a 350+ mile ride that starts in the city of Jerusalem and runs to the Mediterranean Sea, then parallel to Gaza, Egypt, through the Negev desert, and finally arrives in the city of Eilat.
The primary beneficiary of the ride - The Arava Institute - is the premier environmental teaching and research graduate program in the Middle East, preparing future Arab and Jewish leaders to cooperatively solve the region’s environmental challenges. Together, faculty and students – Israeli, Palestinian, Jordanian, and international – are advancing a critical common cause: a sustainable future for the region’s human and natural resources. Building peaceful bridges one graduate student at a time, they nurture deep respect for the 'other' through a commitment to the environment.
Established in 1996, the Arava Institute is a non-profit organization located on Kibbutz Ketura in Israel’s Arava Valley in the Negev desert. The Arava Institute is a unique oasis of environmental education, research, and international cooperation.
The ride is also sponsored by Hazon which is Hebrew for ‘vision’. As America’s largest Jewish environmental organization, it creates healthier and more sustainable communities in the Jewish world and beyond.
We are committed to paying our own way in full, so 100% of the funds that you contribute will go towards supporting the Arava Institute and Hazon. Our goal is to raise $20,000 jointly. Please make a donation at whatever level is within your ability. Perhaps you’ll consider the Jewish tradition of multiples of the numeric value of 'Chai' (Life): $18, $36, $72, $180, $360, $540 – Just know that ALL contributions are greatly appreciated. We ask for your support TODAY – click on the above orange DONATE button now.
Thank you so much for your support over the years.Shalom – Salaam – Peace,
David & BrendaLearn more at http://arava.org/
