It goes without saying that the year 2020 is a crazy
time to be alive!
How can we address questions around belonging and
loneliness in the Jewish community while also holding a
reality of the shame and fear due to a rise in
anti-Semitism? What will humans do differently this
decade to mitigate climate change? While living in a
digital age when nascent youngsters know how to take
selfies and access YouTube, but not converse with loved
ones, have we considered how we might bring Torah to
life for future generations? How does the Jewish
tradition compel us to respond to climate change and
other pertinent issues of our generation? As spiritual
leaders, Do we have sacred time in our year to RECHARGE
and reflect on who we are as individuals, as spiritual
leaders, and the many other roles we might play for
loved ones and friends? And many
others…
As a country, as Jews, and as members of human society,
we are entering into this new decade with many looming
questions hanging over the generation. As individuals,
it might be harder to find answers to those questions,
but as a community, so much more is possible.
